세계시민포럼은 지난 12월 6일, 한성백제박물관에서 제9회 세계시민포럼 ‘온-온-온 페스티벌 2025’를 개최했다. 이날 행사에는 국제 학술 교류의 일환으로 러시아 노보시비리스트 국립대학교 동양학과 Elena Voytishek 교수를 비롯한 교수진이 특별 게스트로 초청되었다. 행사에 참석한 Elena Voytishek 교수는 페스티벌 종료 후, 세계시민포럼과 시민들의 문화적 연대에 대한 인상 깊은 소감을 전해왔다.

The delegation of the Department of Oriental Studies of NovosibirskStateUniversity(Novosibirsk, Russia) visited the Republic of Korea

The group of employees from the Department of Oriental Studies at Novosibirsk State University, consisting of Professor Elena Voytishek, Dr. Maria Shutova, and Dr. Anton Shamrin, visited Seoul from December 5 to December 10 at the invitation of Hanyang University, represented by the Director of the Institute of East Asian Archaeology, Professor Bae Kidong, and the Director of the Seoul Baekje Museum, Ms. Kim Jiyeon. The plans of the Siberian orientalists included conducting field research to gather material on contemporary practices and traditions of Korean Buddhism, analyzing its cultural heritage within the framework of a grant on the study of the axiological potential of Buddhism for the development of international cooperation between Russia and East Asian countries.

The trip was filled with various scientific and cultural activities. During their five days in Seoul, the researchers visited several universities and museums, four Buddhist temples, including the main temple of the Chogye Order—Jogyesa—and the oldest temple from the 8th century, Bongeunsa. The highlight of the scientific program was the participation of Siberian scholars in a colloquium at the Seoul Baekje Museum, where they presented Professor Elena Voytishek's new book co-authored with her: "The Path of Fragrance. The Insence Culture of Korea", published in Moscow by the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

One of the main events of this trip was the participation of Siberian scholars as special guests in the annual Global Citizenship Forum Festival, held at the renowned Seoul Baekje Museum. Spending the whole day at the museum, the guests explored the library, all available exhibitions inside and outside the museum complex, interacted with colleagues, listened to performances by various artistic groups, and were able to fully appreciate the scale of cultural, educational, and social initiatives for the population.

Professor Elena Voytishek:"In 2021, during the height of the pandemic that engulfed the entire world, I had the opportunity, at the invitation of my friend and colleague Professor Bae Kidong, to participate in an international online seminar on the study of Korean cultural heritage as part of the Global Citizenship Forum Festival. Even then, I could appreciate the importance and scale of the tasks facing the event's organizers. This year, my colleagues and I were fortunate to participate in the forum in person for the first time—to feel the energy of people of different ages and nationalities charged for a common cause, to meet the wonderful museum staff, and to immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of goodwill and attention from the organizers and participants of the Festival. The President of the Forum, Professor Bae Kidong, and the director of the Seoul Baekje Museum, Ms. Kim Jiyeon, repeatedly emphasized from the stage that the global goal of the Forum is to promote the development of public self-awareness through cultural and artistic education, attracting creative people, youth, and children. Our observations of the Festival program and friendly communication with colleagues fully confirmed this noble goal—I even wanted to join the orchestra of cellists and play something together with Korean musicians. I hope this will happen someday!".

Dr. Anton Shamrin: "We were struck by the overall friendly and sincere atmosphere that reigned at the festival venues. Upon entering the museum hall, we were greeted in Russian and surrounded by care and attention. We were able to explore not only the wonderful library of the museum but also enjoy performances by a variety of artistic groups. On the stage of the Seoul Baekje Museum's auditorium, a beautiful fireworks display of different peoples and cultures blossomed, where children from different parts of the world felt united. There was a Korean schoolboy in a beautiful western-style costume with a flute, who played excellently a piece composed by a German composer specifically for a Romanian musician; there were Korean children who sang the folk song "Jindo Arirang" together with their peers of various skin colors and eye shapes, accompanied by a youth orchestra; and there were young people from Mongolia, Sri Lanka, European countries, and Southeast Asia, speaking on stage in Korean about the challenges and problems of social adaptation in Korea. The culmination of the celebration was a touching group photo session, where each participant held a colorful towel with the slogan "Happiness for All." It was unforgettable!".

Dr. Maria Shutova: "On December 6, 2025, my colleagues and I immersed ourselves in the amazing atmosphere of the Global Citizenship Forum Festival. It was a truly warm celebration of friendship in winter Seoul. From the first glance, it was felt that this is not just a one-time event. Behind it stands a whole friendly community—both local residents and foreigners who support each other throughout the year. They create this space together, where one can find help in adaptation, broaden one's horizons, and practice languages in the most lively environment. What inspired me the most was how talents blossom here! Music, painting, workshops—all thanks to people of all ages, from schoolchildren to adults. Everyone brings their spark of warmth.

And even though winter was outside, this festival was truly warm—from the soulful atmosphere, smiles, and readiness to share the best. This is one of those cases when you leave an event with the feeling that you have been visiting good friends. 러시아 노보시비르스크 국립대학교 동양학과 대표단, 대한민국 방문

노보시비르스크 국립대학교(러시아 노보시비르스크) 동양학과 소속의 Elena Voytishek 교수, Maria Shutova 박사, Anton Shamrin 박사로 구성된 대표단이 지난 12월 5일부터 10일까지 서울을 방문했습니다. 이번 방문은 한양대학교 배기동 명예교수(전 국립중앙박물관장, 동아시아고고학연구소장)와 김지연 한성백제박물관장의 초청으로 이루어졌습니다.

이번 방문의 주된 목적은 한국 불교의 현대적 관습과 전통에 대한 현장 연구를 수행하고, 러시아와 동아시아 국가 간 국제 협력 발전을 위한 불교의 가치론적 잠재력을 연구하는 학술 과제의 일환으로 불교 문화유산을 분석하는 것이었습니다.

주요 활동 및 학술적 성과 5일간의 일정 동안 연구단은 서울 내 주요 대학과 박물관, 그리고 대한불교조계종의 총본산인 조계사와 8세기 고찰 봉은사를 포함한 4곳의 사찰을 방문했습니다. 학술 일정의 하이라이트는 서울백제박물관에서 열린 학술 콜로키움 참여로, 이 자리에서 연구진은 Elena Voytishek 교수가 공동 집필한 신간 『The Path of Fragrance. The Incense Culture of Korea)를 발표했습니다. 해당 도서는 러시아 과학아카데미 동양학연구소에서 출판되었습니다.

이번 방문의 주요 일정 중 하나는 한성백제박물관에서 열린 세계시민포럼 페스티벌(Global Citizenship Forum Festival)에 특별 초청 게스트로 참석한 것입니다. 하루 종일 박물관에 머물며 도서관과 실내·외 전시를 관람하고, 다양한 예술 공연을 감상하며 관계자들과 교류하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 이를 통해 시민을 위한 문화·교육·사회적 실천이 얼마나 폭넓게 이루어지고 있는지를 직접 체감할 수 있었습니다.

“2021년 전 세계를 휩쓴 팬데믹의 한가운데서, 배기동 교수님의 초청으로 세계시민포럼 페스티벌의 일환으로 열린 한국 문화유산 연구 국제 온라인 세미나에 참여한 적이 있습니다. 당시에도 이 행사의 중요성과 규모를 느낄 수 있었습니다. 그리고 올해, 저와 동료들은 처음으로 포럼에 직접 참석하는 귀한 기회를 얻었습니다. 다양한 연령과 국적의 사람들이 하나의 공동 목표를 위해 모여 뿜어내는 에너지를 느끼고, 훌륭한 박물관 직원들과 만나며, 주최 측과 참가자들이 보여준 따뜻한 배려와 선의의 분위기에 깊이 몰입할 수 있었습니다.

세계시민포럼의 대표인 배기동 교수님과 한성백제박물관 김지연 관장님은 무대에서 여러 차례, 문화·예술 교육을 통해 창의적인 인재와 청소년, 어린이를 아우르며 시민의 자각을 높이는 것이 포럼의 궁극적인 목표라고 강조하셨습니다. 실제로 페스티벌 프로그램과 동료들과의 교류를 통해 그 고귀한 목표가 진심으로 실천되고 있음을 확인할 수 있었습니다. 심지어 첼로 오케스트라에 합류해 한국 음악가들과 함께 연주하고 싶다는 생각이 들 정도였습니다. 언젠가 그날이 오기를 바랍니다.”

“페스티벌 현장 전반에 흐르던 진심 어린 따뜻함과 친근한 분위기가 깊은 인상을 남겼습니다. 박물관에 들어서는 순간 러시아어로 환영 인사를 받았고, 세심한 배려 속에서 행사를 즐길 수 있었습니다. 훌륭한 도서관은 물론, 다양한 예술 단체들의 공연을 감상하는 기회도 주어졌습니다. 한성백제박물관 강당 무대에서는 여러 민족과 문화가 어우러진 화려한 불꽃놀이 같은 장면이 펼쳐졌고, 세계 각지에서 온 아이들이 하나로 연결되는 모습을 볼 수 있었습니다.

독일 작곡가가 루마니아 음악가를 위해 작곡한 곡을 팬플루트로 연주한 음악가, 다양한 피부색과 눈빛을 지닌 친구들과 함께 ‘진도아리랑’을 부른 한국 어린이들, 몽골·스리랑카·유럽·동남아시아 출신 청년들이 한국어로 한국 사회 적응의 어려움을 이야기하던 장면까지 모두 인상 깊었습니다. ‘모두의 행복(Happy Together, All That Matters!)’이라는 문구가 적힌 알록달록한 수건을 들고 함께한 단체 사진 촬영은 이 축제의 감동적인 절정이었습니다. 잊을 수 없는 경험이었습니다.”

"2025년 12월 6일, 한겨울의 서울에서 정말 따뜻한 '우정의 축제'를 만났습니다. 이 행사가 일회성 이벤트가 아니라, 연중 내내 서로를 지지하는 지역 주민과 외국인들의 끈끈한 커뮤니티라는 점이 인상적이었습니다.

남녀노소 모두가 각자의 재능을 꽃피우는 모습에서 큰 영감을 받았습니다. 추운 날씨였지만, 주최측과 참가자들이 나누어 준 미소와 온기 덕분에 마치 친한 친구의 집에 놀러 온 듯한 기분으로 돌아갈 수 있었습니다. 이 빛나는 온기를 선물해 주신 모든 분께 감사드립니다."
